My Magazine Cover

In this project I learned how to scan an image, to resize font, tracking and leading, how to spec an image and how picas are used. The goal of this project was to create a magazine cover that readers could relate to. Swimming has always been my favorite sport and I myself would read a swimming magazine before I read any other type of magazine. I called the magazine "Simply Swimming." In this magazine you would find interviews with Olympic champions such as Michael Phelps, Missy Franklin or Ryan Lochte. There would be helpful tips on swimming technique. Also this magazine would have upcoming stars and results of major swimming championships. I tried to make this magazine resemble such magazines as Splash or Swimming World. The colors really pop on this magazine and I titled this issue "sink or swim" because in the swimming world you either rise to the top or sink to the bottom. I gave the illusion that my goggles were sinking to the bottom to add a personal touch to this project. My favorite part of this magazine is the background because it just makes me want to jump right into the pool!
